Team Game: 2-Balls Game

For beginners, young players & as a teambuilding

  • The game is played on existing fields in the hall (volleyball fields) WITHOUT a net!
  • Since the game is still very static at the beginning, it is not particularly difficult and therefore particularly suitable for beginners and young players
  • Everybody must be played. All are part of the team
  • Several successes are celebrated together
2-Balls Game Rules

Gaming Rules:

1. Position & Start

  • Each player has a cup
  • Each team has a team ball ALL line up outside their play area.
  • Why? Because throwing at longer distances to the other player is easier.
  • It can be played 6 vs 6 or 8 vs 8.

It doesn't matter in this game. Even odd numbers are okay here.

Goal of the Game

  • It starts with a laud GO!
  • Both teams are now trying to catch their ball 3 times in a row within their team.
  • If the ball falls to the ground, it must be counted again from starting zero.
  • If a teammate doesn't catch it, they quickly take the ball and can continue throwing it.
  • To catch the ball, you can jump into the field. To throw, however, you have to stand outside the field again.
  • This game continues until one of the teams has managed to catch their team ball 3 times.

Additional Rules

  • Whenever the ball has been thrown further, the throwing player must kneel.
  • This may NO longer be played until there is only one player left with the ball in his cup.
  • Once this is the case, ALL players can stand up and the thrower may throw to a player of his choice again and then kneel down himselve. But you don't start counting from zero in this case.
  • You continue counting from where you left off.
  • Big advantage: EVERYONE has to be played and everyone is part of the team.

Game against the opponent

  • The first team that catches their team ball 3 times in a row shout loud STOP.
  • Now the other team must stop their pass game immediately.
  • ALL players now enter their playing field. The ball of the other team is placed on the side.
  • The player who had the ball in the cup on the third catch can now throw it into the opponent's field and try to score.
  • The following applies: it may only be thrown from below (not overhead)! So the ball has to fly in a high arc into the other field in a fair manner.
  • If the opponent catches it, it can also be thrown into the other field back. If the team does not catch it, you score 1 point for the throwing team.
  • This game against the other team continues until a point is scored. Means: if a player doesn't catch it, or the ball lands OUT.
  • The field in the middle remains empty and is not part of the game. So if he ends up in the midfield, that's an OUT.

Again Anew

  • If a point is scored playing against the opponent, the entire game starts over again.
  • Everyone positions is outside their field again.
  • Each team has their team ball.
  • And then both teams start catching their ball 3 times in a row again.

Further Rules

  • While catching the teamball with the theam, must always be counted out loud.
  • After each point against the opponent, the winning team may announce the next start. Both teams are only allowed to start at the same time -> fair play!
  • When playing without a net, the ball must always be played high to the opponent to be fair. If the ball is too deep and you are not sure, the thrower can repeat the throw again. If it doesn't work this time, the opponent gets a point.
  • If both teams manage to catch their team ball 3 times at the same time, first one ball is played to the point and then the other.

Game Variations

  1. Instead of 3 times in a row, only 2 times are generally caught. If that works, 3 times in general. If that works, you start with 2 catches in a row, then 3 catches in a row. Adjust according to age group and level of difficulty.
  2. If a player throws his ball further in the team, he has to run after his ball and only gets on his knees at the catcher. This brings more movement and coordination into play.
  3. When playing against the opponent: Every time the ball is caught, this also counts as a point. This makes the team all the happier and more points are counted.
  4. If a team has caught their team ball 3 times, they may then face off against the other team 3 times in a row (instead of just once). So you play against each other more often.
